These give a cinematic direction to how the scene is progressing, which is sometimes in direct opposition to what the text suggests.

Man muss in einer bestimmten Stimmung sein, um dieses Buch zu mögen, ich hatte aber das Glück, dieses Buch in genau dem richtigen Moment gefunden zu haben. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. The million copy bestseller, A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara, is an immensely powerful and heartbreaking novel of brotherly love and. I couldn't connect with any of the other characters though, I didn't feel any emotion towards them, and I didn't feel drawn into their storylines. In Given's debut novel, we follow Eartha on a wild, weird and seductive modern-day exploration as she commences life as an openly bisexual woman whilst also becoming a viral sensation on Wonder Land, a social media app where people project their dream selves online. Her work confronts oppressive attitudes towards women and their bodies and she uses her platform to raise awareness of issues surrounding sexuality, consent and gender. It also felt like it was doing too much; it started out as a contemporary fiction that I could vibe with but switched right at the end to something dark. But there’s clearly a thriving market for people who purport to be a voice for Gen Z, both for the sake of Zoomers who want guidance and relatable media, and for the sake of non-Zoomers who want to understand what interests and concerns young people.

The language sounds very contemporary (for some reason, the whole thing is set in the near future - so everyone can live in the metaverse, like we now live on Goodreads? This book had so much promise but it didn't deliver as tried to have multiple plotlines and topics but sadly became so thin but can see what the author was trying but did like the dark satire on social media though. Some of the things I liked about this book were the discussions about the internet and the complexities of being bisexual, even within the very lgbtqia+ community, as the character describes either feeling like people judge her for being too gay or not gay enough.it also feels very much like /someone/ was about to miss their deadline, hence the hilariously abrupt ending of 'wonderland existed 2018-2030,' which feels very, 'and it was all a dream. Girl Crush is, or intends to be, many things: a guide for young women in bad relationships, an exploration of queer dating culture, a cautionary tale about the pressures of social media, an anti-‘cancel culture’ novel, a dystopian sci-fi, a serious treatment of sexual assault. instead she chose violence and decided to dip her toe in fiction, because someone forgot to remind her that writing is, like, a skill. This is the perfect example of someone who is successful in one area believing that that success and skill will translate into others…… and it did not.
